behind the design
Seersucker has been used throughout history to make garments suitable for hot weather. It is woven in such a way that some threads bunch together to give it it's unique puckered texture. It is usually a thin cotton fabric, often striped or checkered. Interestingly, the word originates from the Persian words shir and shakar meaning milk and sugar to symbolise the gritty texture of sugar and smoothness of milk.
